New Online Funding Information Coming to Wokingham Borough
COMMUNITY and voluntary groups will soon be able to search for up-to-the-minute funding opportunities online thanks to a new service subscription taken by the Borough Council.
The borough council is subscribing to GRANTNet, one of the country’s leading on-line funding portals, which will allow groups to search for local, regional, national and European funding opportunities and access general funding advice (although individual advice is not available to groups). GRANTNet provides simple, step-by-step, searches that are suitable for people with all levels of IT experience and also provides a choice of standard or enhanced search results.
The service will go live in the Wokingham borough after the Easter break. Once live, GRANTNet can be accessed by visiting www.wokingham.gov.uk/win and searching for “grantnet”. Users will need to register their details on the GRANTNet website in order to access the funding searches. Wokingham Direct can be contacted on adults.win@wokingham.gov.uk if local groups have trouble registering or need further advice about this site.
The Borough Council wants to strengthen its relationship with the local voluntary and community sector and is working closely with the Wokingham Borough Voluntary Sector Forum to see how we can empower local groups to identify and access local support services.
The council and forum will be work together to organise a consultation with the local voluntary sector on their support needs during the next three months.
